finding time to get things done
well, show season is in full swing once again. summer was so busy that i'm now behind in all my rabbitry paperwork. however, we are excited about all of the changes since I last added to this site.
all packed and ready to go to Hermiston, Oregon
we have been slowly working towards changing our rabbitry setup. we now have a barn for the rabbits with a dry room for feed, hay, and a desk. we also bought all new cages and feeders to help keep the rabbitry cleaner and as odorless as possible. on a sadder note, we are downsizing to just 9 cages. it took me a few months to make the list of who had to go and who got to stay. luckily my amazing mentor is taking the majority of the animals that we are letting go. we are very thankful that she is able to help us out. <3
our old rabbitry setup let rain run down the back of my neck as i cared for the rabbits
now we have a beautiful 7'x17' rabbit barn with three large screened windows on the opposite side which have covers to keep the rabbits out of severe weather.
we tried to make a gutter system for easy removal of waste, but we realized we weren't very successful as we kept having to mop the floors and walls.
now we have stacked cages so we raised the trays to prevent waste from escaping
i'm so happy to have a desk indoors for taking care of rabbit business! :)
sweet bunny face <3 champagnes are the best!
and finally...i know you all just want to see the baby bunnies. these are two promising bucks. they say that champagnes born with a white star have fantastic fur. i'm interested to see if the one with the star is really the better fur rabbit.
there are many more things that need to happen in the rabbitry in order for me to consider it complete. life is keeping me quite busy so i've had to come up with a strategy of choosing one or two things per week that i would really like to get done, and work on them when i have time. it is a super slow process, but we will get there eventually. ttfn!
